Not The "F" Word!

...by "F" word that seems so taboo, I mean Feminism.

This post perfectly describes how I feel when I meet a girl or woman that "don't think they're a Feminist."

This topic is pretty much relevant since I've run into people that have thought like this all week. :/

Misogynistic Tones And Pretty Dresses

*WARNING: This post contains spoilers of Gone With The Wind. If you want to watch/read it for yourself, I'd advise you NOT to read on. Please also take note that I know that GWTW is a period piece, and that the main characters did what they had to do in order to survive*

Sorry for the late post. I fell asleep, got foods and drinks, and finally got around to watching Gone With The Wind entirely to the point that I lost track of time.

There will be two posts for today, respectfully.

Speaking of Gone With The Wind, I ended up not liking it after watching it all the way through.

I hate how the story keeps shifting around so much. There were many places where the story could have ended that would have been perfectly fine, but apparently the both the author and director of the book and movie had other, more realistic ideas. In my honest opinion, I think that's what made the story a major bummer in the end. The ending in its own right is almost complete overkill of sadness.

As for Scarlett, I find that she has pretty clothes (my favorite outfits of her's were the white dress with green details, the green and gold curtain outfit, the blue and white business outfit, and the red party dress), a shrewd business sense, and a quick mindset. However, I don't like the rest of her character. When you think she has finally evolved and learned her lesson in character, she reverts back to a childish standpoint. This character flaw ends up being her ultimate demise and makes everything and everyone around her a living hell.

If someone lied to my face about being able to deliver a kid, made me deliver a kid myself, then took all the credit, I would have decked them square in the face. No questions asked. Holy crap, that maid had an annoying voice.

The whole affair with Ashley just makes me want to break things. Ashley should have been left a noble character. The barn scene ruined his character for me.

If someone told a major lie making me lose the person I was going to marry, I would come after them with full fury. I think this scene made Scarlett completely heartless. Totally uncalled for.

Melanie should have slapped Scarlett at the party. It would have given Melanie's character more backbone, I think. Making her character so weak due to childbirth makes me incredibly sad.

Rhett seemed to be a good guy during a good portion of the film, but I think the scene that ruined him was the drinking scene. He treated Scarlett like a queen before then. During the drinking scene, it gets into a sense of domestic violence and rape. I consider the following scene rape, since Scarlett was forced to drink alcohol, then carried upstairs into their bedroom with Scarlett slapping him around and telling him to let her go. He doesn't, and has his way with her, knowing Scarlett doesn't want to have more children. I was heavily annoyed to see Scarlett so happy in the next scene. If the sex was good, then awesome, I guess, but where that scene came from was so messed up on multiple cases. From this rape, he decides that he wants to divorce Scarlett, then takes their daughter away from the family. The directing of the next scene in London was poor. I thought that the daughter was being raped by Rhett until you finally see him rushing into the room, comforting her. When they come back from London, Scarlett's joy pisses me off, yet again. She's pregnant due to the rape. Rhett's still in a jealous fit, and wishes her ill will. He bites back his words, however, when Scarlett falls down the stairs and miscarries.

Not wanting to spoil things completely, it goes from bad to worse. The ending, I think, gives a sense of false hope.

Upcoming Holiday Plans: February Edition

Now that I think about it, next month is going to be packed with holiday festivities.

Imbolc is on the second. I'm debating what sigils I'm still planning on sending out into the world then. Hopefully, I will be over this rotovirus so I can be at full peak during casting. I don't want any sickness screwing me up.

Girl Scout Cookie Day is on the eighth. I'm going to celebrate by supporting a lucky local troop by buying a bunch of cookies. ^w^

Chinese New Year and Callahan's brother's memorial is on the tenth. The memorial taking place during Chinese New Year is leaving me feeling weird. How are you supposed to celebrate life during a time when celebrating death is bad luck? I think wearing gold is the best balance, since it's closest to yellow. :/

Valentine's Day is on the fourteenth. Unfortunately, Ian and I won't be able to celebrate until the sixteenth, since too many people took that day off from work. I don't know what we will be doing then. Everything is going to be a complete surprise.

World Thinking Day (another Girl Scout holiday) is taking place this year on the twenty-second. I'm excited to find out what kind of theme is going to be internationally celebrated.

Fangirling: Adventure Time Edition

*WARNING: Major spoilers will be discussed about "All Your Fault." If you haven't seen that episode, it would be advised not to read on!*

Talk about creepy! This has to be the creepiest episode aired to date, and there are plenty of episodes that put people on edge in this series, so that's saying a lot! A lot of my friends that have kept up on the episodes agree with me wholeheartedly.

Princess Bubblegum gets a distress letter from Lemongrab saying that they have run out of candy to eat where he rules, so he's asking for more. Confused, Princess Bubblegum sends a basket full of candy seeds to plant so that there will be plenty of candy again with Finn and Jake.

I thought that was strike one, especially after watching the commercials that were aired. If I was in her position, I would NOT send Finn and Jake out to some where like that-I would have mailed another basket out.

Finn and Jake, not thinking about what they are about to witness so much, take on the mission without hesitation.

They get to where they need to get to. What they witness heavily reminded me of scenes from Uzumaki. I wonder if that's where the writers for this episode got the inspiration from. Fucking snails/slugs. *shivers*

Everything just goes from bad to worse. I won't mention the rest, since that would be a jerk move. Go watch the episode!

On an ending note, Lemongrab is a major jerk and creeper. The ending scene just makes me shiver with how the last expressions are shown.

P.S. I think alignment wise that Princess Bubblegum is secretly Chaotic Neutral/ Neutral Evil with how she acts. She's created creepily, yet possibly Neutral Evil characters. Remember Goliad? Lemongrab is no better. She also has little regard for if she's hurting people, unless it's backfires on her. Accidents are looked at as experiments that need adjusting. She only freaks out if things get out of hand.

P.P.S. Even though Lemongrab is one creepy mofo, I'm not going to deny that he was in some pretty awesome episodes. In fact, I expect a good episode these days when I see Lemongrab in the commercials.

Highly Recommended Reading: Manga Edition

I picked this book up from the local library a couple days back when I picked up a book on hold. I was interested due to the book cover.

The art style is interesting. You would probably like it if you like WWII fiction. Sad, but very touching read.

Past Haunts

Wolf Moon blessings, everyone! I hope everyone had a good day! ^w^

Anywho, now to get into the heavier stuff...

My past is catching up with me again, not only with money issues but with people I knew back then.

An ex-friend, who was one of my BFFs at one point (that's a long story that I won't get into on here, but I'll say that the ending of that friendship hurt), decided to send me a friend request on FB this morning. I accepted it as a sign. I had dreamt about making amends and speaking my mind to this person several times this week.

A lot of my dreams have become visions as of late. It's just weird when they haven't been this vivid since I was pregnant with Evelyn.

With what I know, is this a sign of good faith on her end...or just a way for her to keep tabs on me? :/

Lipbalm Goodness

I was so psyched when I received a tub of this lip balm with my January PopSugar Must Have box.

You have no idea. ^.~

The Chain Is Broken

Sadly, I have broken the chain for doing yoga/meditating and Photo 365. I really tried to keep up with this technique, but lost focus due to various factors. I accidentally forgot to take a picture yesterday, and being sick has really been cutting into my yoga practice around here. Meditating was a lot more easier to manage when people around here weren't sick, and constantly disturbing me.

Weirdly enough, I am still consistent with blogging everyday (which I think everyone here appreciates!). I think the study for keeping a resolution/goal was right-you need to do the resolution at least a month or two beforehand to make it stick during the new year.

To keep things simplified, I'm going to modify the Photo 365 project into a theme for each month. I will probably follow Words To Shoot By's example, and just take photos I think best reflect the theme of that month. I could also go by what my favorite photographers do, and just take a bunch of photos during every month, and then pick my favorites when New Year's Eve rolls around again.

Sherlock Season Two Afterthoughts

*WARNING: SPOILER ALERT IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN SHERLOCK/THAT PART OF SHERLOCK JUST YET*

Holy. Freaking. CRAP.

I had a tiny feeling in the pit of my stomach that Sherlock might be alive with how that episode began.

I didn't think I was going to end up right. The biggest giveaway was Sherlock seeing Molly. That brought me back to what was said earlier in the season: a person can disappear if the morgue person looks out for them.

I have to agree with other fans on this one though: how the hell did Sherlock survive that fall?!? Not being able to know until possibly next year is killing me already. >.>

This show makes extremely amazing fake blood, let me tell you. The effects were so realistic. I can honestly tell you I was squeamish near the ending.

Oh, and props to Andrew Scott for making Moriarty look like a complete dick. Seriously. Amazing portrayal of a famous villain.

P.S. This is going to be amusing. Doctor Who and Sherlock fans are already at each others' already on Twitter and Tumblr. From what my close friends are saying about Doctor Who being ruined by Moffat, I really want Benedict Cumberbatch to win for Sherlock.

P.P.S. Knowing this makes me kind of sad...and wanting to see all of those movies mentioned, especially since Cumberbatch is a sexy beast. ;P

Thoughts On My First Glam Bag

I apologize for the somewhat disheveled countertop, but it had the best lighting for taking this picture for the time being.

I was really excited to finally receive my first ever Glam Bag. I had been wanting one for awhile now, but money was tight. From what I was told by other people, Glam Bags usually had better stuff than Birchbox, so I started off with them instead. Birchbox will be purchased later on.

It's kind of interesting seeing a Glam Bag that was leaning more toward stuff other than purely makeup. The thing that kind of made me sad was the nail polish. I was expecting a deep reddish color, like what was displayed on the website, but ended of getting a pinkish nude tone instead. The other items were true to what was shown on the website, thankfully. I'm most excited to try out the crease brush, the Argan oil, and the blood orange body butter.

I can't wait to see what Ipsy has in store for next month! ^w^

In Regards To The Last Post...

...here's an extended edit for the curious folk that were worried about me earlier.

I thought about it, and this morning's post was kind of uncalled for.

Ian has been treating me a lot better than that. We have gone out of the house every single night since he's been off of work on his three day vacation.

The only drawbacks are private, that's it. I swear. Early this morning, my mind was running around in circles thinking about a lot of things in my life that I want to improve on, but can't at the moment.

A Girl's Night In/Out would still be nice though...

Boredom Strikes

Evelyn and I are in the same boat at the moment.

These last couple of days have been pretty lackluster and boring around here for reasons I won't mention on this blog.

I really need a Girl's Night Out/In...

Meet Gin

He's my latest addition around here. ^w^

Gin is supposed to be a desk organizer, but I use him to hold my prayer beads in when I'm not wearing them.

Since I got $10 in cash store credit (due to a random lottery) on one of my favorite sites, I got him for free. I only had to pay for shipping.

I think he's good luck since I haven't had any nightmares since he's arrived. I think Gin is a pipe fox in disguise.

Fangirling: Sherlock Edition

OMFG. >.>

So.. I started watching Sherlock the other day, and I'm completely hooked an unashamed to admit it. If you haven't watched this show yet, it's definitely worth the watch. I blame Joanne on that one.

Benedict Cumberbatch is a sexy beast!!!

P.S. Due to the hints in the first season and how everything plays out in the second season (from what I've seen so far), does anyone else besides me think that Sherlock is written to be a male bi character? If so, what a rare treat!

Little Dancing Baby

Evelyn is so happy this morning.

She won't stop dancing. ^w^

A New Beginning: Camera Edition

I'm glad that I have another 35mm camera in my possession now, especially with what happened to Ian's Holga. I really love the style of this camera a helluva lot.

Some of my favorite photographers/idols use this camera and gush about it on a daily basis. I was also sold by many positive reviews about the Canon AE-1.

I got two lenses with it (micro and macro). I can't wait to play around with them.

Also, Denise and I have a photoshoot collaboration in the works. We're thinking about shooting while there's still snow on the ground. :P

P.S. If it's compatible with the Canon AE-1, I sincerely want to get my hands on a Control Freak Lensbaby lens with an Edge 80 Optic attachment after my next paycheck. The results with that lens is drool worthy, even if some people don't consider that lens "professional."

I'm really glad that Evelyn is getting into reading more. This picture makes me so happy. ^w^

Pics Please?

I think more pictures are needed on this blog.

Here's the latest picture of Evelyn. ^w^

P.S. If you're wondering why not all of the Photo 365 pictures aren't uploaded on here, some are on Twitter or Flickr, or haven't been developed yet.

Goku Vs. Superman (SPOILERS!!!)

I still don't agree with that video. If you have the chance, you should Google it (as I'm posting from my phone right now).

Goku should have won. The people that made the video didn't take into account that Goku could summon up energy from the whole universe, if he wanted to. They also didn't account for his extreme intuition. He's also smarter than he lets on.

Superman is broken beyond belief, and is an ultimate Mary Sue character.

*EDIT* Here is the link to the video that will show you what I'm talking about (if you haven't seen it already, of course).

Purple Vision: Hair Edition

Ever since the other night, I've been re-inspired to dye my hair purple.

I wanted to dye my hair purple last year, but it seemed overrated at the time with everyone wanting to dye their hair that color all at once.

Dragonball Snoozefest

Ian, Brett, Eli, and I were able to continue the DBZ marathon of madness...for a little bit.

We continued the marathon by watching Dragonball this time.

I fell asleep at the beginning, zoning in and out of watching episodes. Ian was in the same boat due to the fact that he hadn't slept all day until that point. Lying on the day bed with Ian's body heat close by didn't help matters much. The body heat from snuggling was welcome due to the intense cold that was seeping into the house. Being located on the basement floor does have major drawbacks this time of year, especially with the direction we're faced. Idaho is not fun when the weather is seven degrees Fahrenheit, and the snow is frozen into ice blocks.

On an ending note, good thing I've seen a good majority of the first season... >.>

Mala Bead Goodness

Belated New Moon blessings, everyone!

Here is my new set of mala beads. ^w^

They make me so incredibly happy and calm.

It's Vata Time!

I tried out the Vata Namaste Yoga sequence, and I'm loving it. I'm a Vata-Pitta type, so this sequence was perfect.

I plan on doing the Pitta sequence tomorrow.

What I love about the sequence was that it was short and to the point, but the stretches themselves were extended. Oh, and the creator of Namaste Yoga was leading these type of poses on camera too. ^w^

The biggest kicker to Vata is the breathing exercises, which I'm still working on.

Ayurvedic yoga is so addicting. :P

Thursday, January 10, 2013

Woohoo!

So...I finally got the mala I ordered from Sivana.

It's so much prettier in person. *.*

The mala is smelly due to the oils the Tibetian nuns used to bless it, but I don't mind.

I can't wait to use them. I'm going to pray to Tara tonight. ^w^

Pictures will be up A.S.A.P.!

Thank You All

Today is going to be crazy busy, so I'm going to keep this post short and sweet.

For the followers I have, I want to take the time to thank you for reading this blog. It really means a lot. Extra love for the Spooky Season, Halloween Countdown, and Creepmas peeps. ^w^

Take care and be safe everybody. <3

The First In-Person Readings Of The Year

Feeling pretty good about today, despite being groggy a good portion of it.

I'm feeling as if my huge creative block has passed. It feels wonderful! On news of creating new things, Katrina gave me another order. This time, it was for making business cards.

Anywho, when I'm on a creative kick, I love giving tarot readings. My readings turn out a lot more accurate and awesome, in turn.

Today, I gave my first live readings of the year. What surprised me was that the readings I did were for my SIL, Sarah. She was curious about the other night. I was supposed to give my FIL a tarot reading, but he changed his mind at the last moment and opted to watch a football game instead. :/

Shhh...don't tell anyone, but I think Sarah is my favorite SIL to date. ;P

Anywho, she's really been interested in divination so far, so it was a treat reading for her.

So far, I did four readings in a row for her. They seemed pretty positive for the most part.

As far as booking more readings for this year, this fresh start has made me very inspired. I can't wait to read for others. ^w^

Happiness Is...

...when you notice the little things in life that make you happy.

...like when I see Evelyn wake up and kiss her stuffed animals good morning.
...like when I notice Ian and Evelyn looking so peaceful in their sleep.
...like when I find the perfect moment whilst shooting a photo and the natural lighting is awesome.
...like when I manage perfect balance whilst doing a challenging yoga pose.
...like when I savor a bite of a delicious dessert.
...like when I am blown away by an amazing kiss.
...like when I pitch perfect and hit the highest note in a song.
...like when I read my tarot cards and the reading is fantastic.
...like when I pray to the gods/goddesses before I sleep and feel at peace.
...like when I have amazing dreams and do not want to wake up.
...like when I get to pet extremely cute animals.
...like when I am taken out on an amazing date and do not want the date to end.
...like when I meet with someone for the first time for work and I close deals perfectly.
...like when I am camping and see the stars and moon so clearly in the sky.

"Just Like Heaven"

I'm blogging early, as I have no idea when I'll be online for leisure today (again!).

So...I just finished watching "Just Like Heaven" not too long ago.

The first time I saw it, I had no idea what to expect. Due to Evelyn heavily teething, I missed a good chunk of this movie the first time. It sucked because I really loved what little parts I watched. This time around, I saw a greater portion of the movie, which I'm grateful for.

I really think the Reese Witherspoon and Mark Ruffalo pairing is quite sweet. The chemistry between these two actors is awesome.

I've decided that this movie will always put me into a good mood. Seriously, if you haven't seen it already, do so.

My only negative review on this movie is the fact that I didn't see a sex scene. Before you judge me, I enjoy sex scenes if they're placed in the right material. With the fact that Elizabeth and David had such heavy chemistry, it was disappointing. Then again, I have only seen the television edition, so that's what I'm going off of.

Oh, and I think Jon Heder's role is priceless. I totally forgot that he was in this movie. XD

A Healthy Start To The Day

I'm making this post rather early this morning. This is because today is going to be swamped with work and studying, and I have no idea if I'm going to be back online for leisure tonight.

It feels awesome to be doing some yoga way early in the morning. If I have trouble sleeping, I usually pick a rather calming asana, and go from there to be knocked out fast. If I want to be alert for as long as possible, I go for an asana that gives me a wake up call. Combine that with some chai tea, and I'm alert as long as I want. I can't stress how yoga cures a lot of things physically! :P

Today, I went with the Dancing Sun Namaste Yoga sequence. I freaking love that asana. It always wakes me up.

Feeling pretty awesome, and can heavily focus on studying for my securities license and doing work around here. My biggest goals today are setting appointments for work, getting the laundry off of the day bed and sorted, and delivering a bunch of pictures to customers.

Oh, and as for my last post I made, I decided to finally purchase that set of Mala beads. I can't wait until they get here. It's so exciting! ^w^

Peaceful Find

I love being a Chaote. It's nice finding peace through different spiritual means.

Today, I found a pretty sweet looking mala. If you know me, you know I love prayer beads of all sorts.

This particular mala is made out of yak bones in a really neat looking pattern with smoky and clear crystals as markers. The yak whose bones are being used to make the mala died of natural causes, so no worries.

I think my favorite malas deal with bones and natural stones since they were once part of the earth and have been cleared off or have gone to the earth in the end. That's so cool.

Another cool part of this mala is that it was made by nuns. All of the proceeds help support education, building projects, and other needs that deal with Tibetan Nuns Project.

Winter Blues

*I'm apologizing in advance, as this is probably going to be another rant post*

Cons are trumping pros these days, and frankly, I'm fucking sick of it.

I'm sick of people talking bad about me behind my back, and overhearing what they say, especially if I didn't post or say what they had heard about. Loose lips sink ships, jerks.

I'm sick of dealing Debbie Downers. Your attitude is contagious, and not in a good way.

I'm fucking sick of dealing with people that are highly impatient. I try my best to be patient with you, and it's not right when you don't return the favor.

I'm sick of feeling like my dreams are being forced to be put on hold. Fuck that. If you try to hold me back, I will let your ass sink. Not cool.

UGH.

Mantra that fits my life at the moment: "Prune away the bad, keep the good."

Bad Blood

So yesterday, I had mentioned that Ian had found out that I had credit card debt...

...today, I didn't hear the end of it.

Is it so bad to think that he should move on from thinking about it, especially since I know I can pay my way for sure? I promised that if I were to have any more credit card debt that I would be responsible for it. I don't like being lectured as if I'm a little kid.

It hurts not being trusted.

New Year's Day 2013

Happy New Year everyone! I wish you all love, hope, peace, and joy during this secular New Year! <3

Anywho, this New Year has been starting off pretty fantastic, for the most part.

Ian and I both rolled twenties on a d20 dice. Rolling the dice has basically been a tradition of mine on New Year's since my old group started it. I don't associate with them very much anymore, but I still keep this tradition going out of good memories and force of habit.

I still need to give myself a New Year's tarot reading. :X

As long as I have completed this blog post by midnight PST (it never goes to MST on my end, like it should, so I only count PST), I will have completed my daily goals for this New Year, and have not broken the chain! Woohoo!

On that note, I'm still feeling the burn from my first yoga asana of the year. It's so fantastic.  Sarah was a brave soul, and tried out yoga for the first time tonight. We did the first sequence found on the first season of Namaste yoga. I give her major props as a beginner going in cold turkey. She almost made it to the end! ^w^

I'm missing the Advent Calendar on Neopets already. T.T

As from my last post you should know that I got a proper New Year's kiss. It's still pretty fantastic when I'm thinking about it. ;P

My laundry still needs to be done. Undone laundry = bad Feng Shui for the New Year unless corrected quickly.

Ian, Brett, Eli, and I finally got around to doing the DBZ marathon of madness. We didn't get very far into the marathon after figuring out how we were going about things. This marathon is going to span over weekends/when everyone actually has time to get altogether. So far, we watched the main episode and the special both dealing with Bardock.

After being in lala land for a bit, due a heavy hit from the plum wine cocktails I made, I kind of woke up to Ian telling me that we were going to see a movie together. I totally thought he was joking, and went back to sleep.

I get woken up a second time. Ian found out that I had credit card debt. I didn't say anything to him, because I honestly didn't know about going around and explaining it to him. It also didn't help that I kept forgetting to tell him. Long story short, I'm taking care of this situation entirely this time, and will not need any help...and that feels empowering, in a way. Feeling like you have to be a responsible adult sucks sometimes, though.

I get ready in a breakneck fashion after that debt discussion. We finally got to see Les Miserables together. I think the movie did itself major justice. You could tell since I was blubbering a good portion of the movie. Ian admitted that he teared up too; he also really enjoyed it.

On that note, he's trying to find the best soundtrack that would do Les Mis fans proud. Anyone know the best soundtrack released to date? Help!

Ian and I swore to never bicker on holidays again, as best as we could. Yesterday really hurt us both. I'm glad we made amends. We even pinky promised. I only do that for the promises I plan on taking to the grave.

Dad picked up Evelyn and me past 3 p.m. After we got to my folks' house, we ate a bunch of food and hungout with my side of the family. Ian only didn't go due to sleeping for work. Hanging out was quite nice, especially since Remi wasn't barking. We also made mom's night.

Oh, and screw traditional champagne (lols Just kidding! Champagne is still pretty tasty. :P )-Plum wine is the right way to ring in the New Year! ;D
